When I moved into this house, there were trees all around the pool. Got rid of them. BUT… one tree I couldn’t get rid of wasn’t even technically near the pool, at about 30 feet from it. YET for whatever reason that tree’s been a real pain at me trying to keep the pool clean. This thing has been amazing.

    Pros
-SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT- this thing is portable and easy to handle (sort of)
-Stayed buoyant under a decently heavy load. That one tree that just barfs leaves into my pool every fall, apparently barfs whatever their pollen packets are? I don’t know what they are, but they litter the ground and are 1000x more annoying than the leaves. Also they get super heavy when they clump together. I had got this near the mid to tail end of that annoying nature cycle and the basket was about 5lbs and the machine stayed afloat.
-SUPER EASY TO OPERATE. Turn on, drop in, walk away.
-Hopper: Not only seems big enough for my 20×40 pool, but has a good strainer system, while not “FINE” is “FINE” enough. It catches the bugs and pollen packets without issue.
-EFFECTIVE: Since I bought it, the skimmer in the pool hasn’t gotten full. I would say this picks up 80%, 10% sink for the aqua bot to pick up, and the other 10% gets trapped in the skimmer. TO ME that’s a win.

    Cons:
-Should have an auto off when you open the lid, and an auto on when you close the lid. When cleaning the hopper.
-Path finding is non-existent. Not exactly sure what the algorithm is here, but its erratic, also not a huge fan of my stairs which the top most one might have 4in of water on top of it.
-Speaking of brains, this doesn’t have much of one. At this price, you’d think it could have a little more than: “If back wheels hit wall, I reverse and try again until I no hit wall”. Since this gets caught up in my Polaris umbilical power cord. Which I wished there were those same wheels or object detection on the front so it knew to back up and try a different angle of approach.
-Weirdly the best place to grab this is from the back, there needs to be a handle in the front, since when pulling it out to get at the hopper, you sometimes dump the contents back into the pool.
    – Pricey. This doesn’t seem SUPER HIGH TECH so the price is confusing. THOUGH, I guess most of the money is going into those solar panels which are covered heavily, so they need really good panels on them to get this to run. OTHER THAN the panels, nothing else screams expensive.

    Conclusion:
I was skeptical at first, but after nearly a month, I love it. There’s a few key things this company needs to fix for gen 3, nothing that should mess with the over all cost of it, but would make this a perfect item. If you have a pool, and are lazy like me, go with this item. It works great. Also, for us in the South, go with white, should get less hot.

We have a 30FT in-ground Vinyl liner Oval pool which we have had for 30+ years. Last year I started to notice a loss of water and had a pool company come in and do their tests and they said my Skimmer line was leaking due to tree roots. To fix this would cost a couple thousand dollars to chop out the cement patio around the pool and run a new line to the filter. Also I was told the new cement would not match what we had. This year I opened the pool and the leak was much worse. I had to shut off the Skimmer line. I started looking for another option and found this Betta SE skimmer. I downloaded the manual, read the reviews and ordered the unit from Amazon. When the Skimmer arrived I put it in the pool and OMG it worked perfectly. NO complaints. It ran all day with minimal sun right out of the box. Love this device. Its not too heavy. I really researched this product and I would like to point out 2 quick observations. #1 I have read reviews where people are saying the skimmer lost debris when it backs up. I watched it back up multiple times on automatic and I did it myself with the remote on manual and no loss. The basket holds 3 times what my pool skimmer can hold. #2 people are saying that their Betta SE skimmer gets stuck on their robot vacuum line. Yes the manual tells you to pull out of the pool any other Pool device with a line hose. I have a Dolphin Nautilus Pool Vacuum that I have had since 2018 and yes I pull it out of the water after its finished. Not a big deal! Thank you Betta for saving me so much with this great product. Just hope it last like my Pool robot has.

I have a 50 year old in-ground pool and the built-in skimmer has never been great. I’ve tried other skimmer add-ons with some success, but there have always been small particles and bugs on the surface.

This robot skimmer is a game changer. It motors slowly around the pool and skims constantly using only solar power, with enough battery power to last through the night. The surface of my pool has never been cleaner.

Even with maple leaves dropping helicopter seeds the last couple of weeks, this thing mostly keeps up. It is always a surprise how much is in the basket when I empty it. When the pool surface is so clean, you don’t realize how much is dropping in the pool that the Betta picks up until you go to empty the basket.

The build quality seems more than adequate. It’s a lightweight device that is easy to pull out of the pool. The basket holds quite a bit and it is easy to empty and hose off.

Looking at some of the negative reviews, it looks like some people are just impatient. Put the thing in the pool and let it work for 24 hours. I was amazed at how clear the surface of the water was after letting it run. One review claimed it was spitting out the contents of the basket when bouncing off a wall. I haven’t seen that. There is a paddle wheel at the front that moves debris into the basket. It may not be perfect but it seems to work extremely well and a basket full of debris is proof of that.

The only downside is that it is not compatible with a corded pool floor robot. It will inevitably choke on the cord and cause a problem. I am not sure there is a solution to that other than just pulling the Betta out of the pool when running the robot. Battery powered floor robots are likely the future.
