I bought it as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and it is completely worth it! He has been wanting one for some time so I decided to swallow the fact that is a bit expensive and got him one and boy it was worth it. It’s an amazing quality and you can just stay hours there staring at it. Now the entire family wants one as well. It does rotate faster with light but even during the night when it’s standing still it is stunning

At first I thought the globe was damaged during shipping. I bought the Jupiter globe as a gift to my son who gave me the light colored world map globe for Christmas. I was so impressed at the engineering I had to buy one. When the Jupiter globe first arrived It would not rotate under normal room light as my globe does. I was prepared to return it until I decided to try it in direct sun light. It worked!! I realized the Jupiter globe has a darker colored globe making light transfer difficult. Works best in direct sun light. My original globe rotates all day long in ambient room light even at dawn with no other lights on. Truly impressive and impressive engineering. Well done Mova Globe.

I figured this would be a cool nerdy desk trinket for the office – I was right. It looks really great sitting on my desk, and I read the size, 4.5″, and had a picture in my head of how big it would be, but when I received it I was surprised at how large it actually is. As some others have mentioned, this globe is just slightly too blue for Jupiter, but I understand why and it’s something I can easily overlook.

From just looking at pictures and things, I wasn’t entirely sure about how it worked or if the surface was glossy or not. It’s basically the same as a ship’s compass floating in water, only this is entirely encompassed in a clear outer casing and a fluid (probably water). The outer shell is a shiny plastic so it appears glossy, unlike the product image which makes it appear to have a matte look. The reason the print on the inner globe is slightly blue is to allow ambient light to pass through the image so it can hit the inner electronics to get the rotation going. It’s not a fast spin – I have an office with three large windows that quite a bit of light comes in through, and today it took about 25 seconds to do one complete rotation.

It’s a neat thing to have on your desk, but I think it’s a little pricey for what it is. I can see the seam on the outer shell and the inner print, but it’s not noticeable unless you inspect it closely (a foot or two form your face). I probably won’t buy another at this price, but I would at sub-$100 prices.

I made my first MOVA purchase years ago gifting a Van Gogh MOVA Globe to a friend. I was so impressed, that I ordered one for myself. Since that time, I have a purchased a total of 10 various MOVA globes myself. Their quality & uniqueness is what made me a fan. They are on the pricey side, but to me, worth the cost. Luckily, I purchased the majority of my collection for $160.00 or less (before the recent price increase to $198.00).

Nothing to dislike. Cool display and talking piece. I so far have not had any issues with globe.

A volatile machine that stopped working four weeks after I purchased it. An air bubble developed in the globe for no apparent reason and it stopped spinning as a consequence. The air bubble that developed in the MOVA globe for no apparent reason is pictured with my review.

I emailed MOVA directly and offered to pay for the cost of repair and postage. They refused this offer and offered to replace the globe at a cost of €133.66 if I returned the defective globe and covered all the costs of replacement and postage.

Admittedly it was out of warranty at the time I approached MOVA but I was willing to pay for the cost of repair and postage.

An unreliable product coupled with extremely unsupportive customer service leaving me one very unhappy and disappointed customer.

I had two Mova globes already and have always loved them; they are unquestionably an indulgence, but one that gives pleasure indefinitely. I bought them quite some years ago, from a supplier that closed, so it was pleasing to discover David Shuttle as a reasonably priced source, via Amazon. The delivery was Fulfilled By Amazon at my local newsagent through the Pass My Parcel arrangement, so no problems there, perfect for an item this size. Well what more can I say … as I already noted, I love Mova globes and was delighted to add this offbeat one to my pair of differently coloured 4.5 inch and 6 inch Earth globes. Pedants need to be aware, the globe is spherical … yes I do know that the real Jupiter is easily seen to be wider than it is high. For those unfamiliar with the Mova globes, do note that they require a decent level of daylight to rotate. Even a couple of metres from a window probably will not do. An effective alternative is illuminating the globe with a couple of small LED spotlights. Of course this also works at night, certainly with the addition of ambient light from my main uplighter. I have placed my 4.5 inch Jupiter and my existing 4.5 inch Earth on either side of a bulldog statue, and all three sit on top of the home cinema front speaker mounted just below my plasma TV – probably not ideal from an audiophile point of view but I constantly enjoy seeing them when my attention wanders from the screen! Apologies for the poor quality of the photo, which I did in a hurry, but it gives you an idea of the positioning of the LED lights, which are clip-ons available from Amazon.

Works great under room lights, I did buy a case to protect it but still works well and is protected. Make sure you keep it away from Magnets.

This little planet is actually very soothing and neat to watch. I do feel like it is expensive for the size of it. I don’t know what it takes to make one, but my son wanted one and we got it for his birthday.

I’ve given this five stars even though you cannot position the globe anywhere you want if you are only using natural light. I have tried lots of places and the one in the image is the only place I could find that worked properly. I’m really happy with the position now which includes a moon which I bought about 18 months ago.
They look fantastic and provide a great talking point. They actually appear to be floating which is fascinating.
The only slight negative is that at £164 I think they are expensive. I feel under £100 is nearer the mark.
    Do I recommend this, absolutely

Not sure why this one stopped spinning, I have the mars MOVA globe too from David Shuttle and that is going fine still.

Upon opening the package, you can feel the heaviness of the planet. It’s high quality and the stand seems to be sturdy. It is mesmerizing to see the planet go around while you either hold it in your hand or if you leave it on the stand. Been a huge success with the whole family. Very happy with the purchase.
