Flys great and mostly steady. It can challenge your coordination some but a few times crashing around a bit into furniture, and the Heli will take the abuse.
NOT an outdoor flyer though, a wiper of wind is the only thing that this bird can handle.
Short battery life so have enough batteries on hand and have them all charged up for a lengthy flying session. Syma offers a free battery coupon with the heli, just e-mail the company and they will send another battery.
Some people are having problems with getting the Heli off the ground. You have to do a double throttle up and down to active the full speed.

I’m going to add a small bit of weight to the nose to get more forward tilt of the rotors to add more forward momentum, flies best indoors out of wind, stable by design.

It’s funny, I took this outside and I thought, man this is so tiny. It flew ok, then I took it inside. Wow, what a beast! You better learn to tame it quick. After you do, it is very exciting to fly. I fly it around wide open inside my 125 year old house with an original floorplan. It’s a challenge but a blast to fly. Very well built and priced for a chopper this size. If you’re ready to move up, give it a try. Syma makes the best helis and drones. Give em a try, they have outstanding support!

Like many here I was frustrated – the helicopter would not take off. From the reviews I thought I had another defective battery. It comes with 2 batteries, I tried them both – leaving them charging even past when the USB turns blue.

I would get the remote “paired” to the helicopter – push left button which is supposed to be the up button. The rotors would spin about 5 seconds and then stop. The product advertises “1-key” take-off, but there is nothing in the directions about how to take-off. So I assumed it was just the left up button. Finally found the trick on another review site – after pushing the left button up 1 time to start the rotors, you must release and push the up a second time – then it takes off!

Once I figured this out – very happy. It flies great, very stable and responds well to the controls. Kids (and Dad!) having lot of fun with this – just wish the directions would have clearly stated the take-off procedure.

My review is coming from a beginner’s perspective. Myself, along with a few other people, tried flying the helicopter so this is a compilation of our experiences. For novice flyers, the learning curve for controlling the helicopter was pretty steep. Even after bringing the helicopter to a big, open grassy area, it got stuck in shrubs and trees many times. (My son ended up getting in poison oak while my husband and brother-in-law were trying to get the helicopter out of the tree.) One of the negatives about this helicopter is that according to the instructions, the battery takes about 150 minutes to charge. With a full charge, the battery only lasts about 8 minutes. With only a few minutes at a time to fly, it makes it very difficult to practice enough to feel like you’re making progress. What’s good is the set comes with a back-up battery so you can charge both before playing to maximize the flight time. An extra small propeller comes with it too, which was very helpful because literally within 1 minute of us trying to play, we had to replace it because it had fallen off after landing on top of the shrubs. Another complication we had was actually getting the propellers moving. I’d put it on the ground and just start moving all the joysticks around. At times it would start but other times it wouldn’t. I still don’t exactly understand why sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t.
When it does work, the helicopter does fly high and goes fast. We all had a difficult time making it go forward. The controls in general aren’t very responsive. I do think it’s well built as far as the structure itself goes. Even after crashing into concrete, shrubbery, and trees, aside from losing the first propeller, there was no damage. It’s held up very well so far. Overall, there were definitely negatives but enough positives to keep taking it out and trying. We did have fun together as a family…
